About Meditation & Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a non-faith-based practice of maintaining moment-to-moment awareness of our thoughts, emotions and sensations. Mindfulness is the acceptance of what is happening without judgement and without believing that what we are experiencing in any given moment is right or wrong.
When practicing mindfulness, we strengthen our minds so that we can remain focused on what is taking place in the present moment, rather than ruminating on the past or speculating on the future.

To meditate means to go home to yourself. Then you know how to take care of the things that are happening inside you, and you know how to take care of the things that happen around you.
~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Life offers many challenges, many of which are beyond our control. We do have, however, the ability to control and take ownership for our own states of mind--and live a life of reflection and response rather than habitual reactivity. Meditation practice reveals that it is a very natural way to free ourselves from personal discontent, anxieties, fears, hatreds, and all the general confusions that beset the human condition.
Meditation is a means of transforming and sharpening the mind. It is a technique that encourages and develops concentration, calm, emotional regularity, and a clarity to see the true nature of things. With a regular meditation practice you will learn the patterns and habits of your mind, and learn how to cultivate new, more skillful ways of being. Meditation has existed for thousands of years, but only recently has the West noticed the benefits of meditation. Scientific studies are supporting what the practice of meditation has demonstrated for years:

Mindfulness means living in awareness of the present moment; it's being awake to each moment and being fully engaged in what is happening with acceptance and without judgment.
